Bodegas Callia: Alta, Magna & Grand

 

To further demonstrate the world class reputation of the San Juan region Bodegas Callia will be showing wines from across their award winning range on table 33 at the Wines of Argentina Trade Tasting this year. Tasting highlights include:

  • Iconic  : Grand Callia 2005
  • Callia Magna Shiraz Viognier 2006 – new world Rhone blend
  • Debut Wine : Callia Extra Brut Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Gris 2006 (sparkling satellite table)

The key range for the UK market is the Callia Alta range - RRP £5.99. The mission of Bodegas Callia is to produce the best Shiraz in Argentina – the evidence can be found in the single varietal Shiraz 2007, as well as a Shiraz Malbec 2007 blend and a Shiraz Bonarda 2007. Three fresh Callia Alta whites and a rosé from the cooler parts of the San Juan region will also be on show:  Pinot Grigio 2007, Chardonnay 2007, a Chardonnay Torrontés 2008 blend and the Callia Alta Shiraz Rosé 2007.    

The Callia Magna range - RRP £7.99 - on the otherhand are more structured and show the perfect balance between oak and fruit character. Callia Magna Viognier 2006, Shiraz 2007, Tannat 2007 and the Malbec/Merlot 2007 blend will all be available to taste, along with the new New World Rhône blend of the Callia Magna Shiraz Viognier 2006.
