With a new vintage about to appear in-store in the UK this autumn, Michel Rolland has already reported high expectations for the 2007 Clos de los Siete which he deems to be one of the most complete and balanced blends to date. Merlot, Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon thrive at the 430 hectare vineyard at Vistaflores producing grapes with high expression and intense fruit flavours which make up the 2007 blend.

“Each vintage is different,” adds Rolland, “Despite the on-going threat of large cloud formations and the risk of hail; all six harvests have produced healthy grapes.  The 2007 vintage in particular has a more pronounced aromatic quality resulting from favourable conditions which took place during the final stages of the growing season.  The Merlot offers intense fruit flavours; the Malbec impressive aromatic quality with dense, smooth tannins; whilst the Syrah provides a perfumed character and the Cabernet Sauvignon nobility and structure.” 

The 2007 Clos de los Siete, which appears in store late September, following the 2006 vintage, is a blend of 48% Malbec, 28% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Syrah.
